Our Wormeries not operational

We have been unable to make  arrangements for the provision of friut and other "lunchbox"  food waste for the wormeries at the Botanic Garden so the wormeries are not fully operational at present. The worm compost can be seen in the lower layers of the stacking wormeries but  there are no worms in the top trays where they woud normally be feasting on the food waste.

Mantis Composter producing over the winter

We added some material  to our new  Mantis a few weeks ago just so that visitors could see how it works not  expecting much to happen over the winter. However it has started  breaking down the material already, despite the cold weather and the fact that it is only being turned at the weekend.
